Tickets To The Sea is the latest album from prolific Aberdeen-based singer/songwriter Craig John Davidson, and sees the artist taking an optimistic turn, applying his familiar puzzle building songwriting style to solutions to problems with hard hitting subjects like love and morality.The follow up to 2020’s Queen Compulsion is a breezy melancholic record, the washes along full of sun kissed moments that create a soothing bliss as Davidson’s vocals lull you through a comforting daydream. His familiar lo-fi indie sound is present, while the occasional tropical lilt hints that you may be in for more welcoming waters than his local North Sea.From the timeless pop/rock of ‘Best You Ever Had’ to the piano led dust yourself off and start again ditty ‘Down At Dawn’, Davidson shows a knack of crafting songs that instil a touch of wonder, while his experimentation with other musicians on here, most notably guitarist Isaac Barnes’ atmospheric electric slide guitar, show a willing to progress and evolve as an artist
